Gaya: The main accused in Kothi SHO Qayamuddin Ansari murder case, Shan Ali, along with his aide Shanu, was arrested from Jamia Nagar in Delhi on Tuesday morning. Ansari was killed by bike-borne criminals near Kothi police station in Gaya district while on morning walk on October 3. Earlier, three persons, including Shan’s close relative Chhote Khan, were arrested from Kothi and Gaya town. One of the weapons used in the crime was also recovered from their possession. Shan was the founder member of now defunct Sunlight Sena.
Soon after his, the special investigation team (SIT) interrogated Shan. On his statement, police raided several places to nab the other accused and recover the weapons.
Gaya police, after getting information about Shan hiding in Delhi, sent a team which raided the residential area and nabbed him. Police sources said Shan had been constantly changing places in Jharkhand and West Bengal before taking shelter in Delhi.
Zonal IG Naiyyer Hasnain Khan said Shan would be produced in Delhi court with a request for transit remand. His proper remand would be sought later from the Gaya court, he said. The IG has directed the police to submit chargesheet at the earliest so that a request for speedy trial of the case could also be made.
