Kidnappers release Class XII student

PATNA: The Patna Police heaved a sigh of relief in the wee hours of Sunday after some kidnappers released an abducted Class 12 student, Abhishek Raj, at Bakhtiyarpur in Patna district due to police pressure and escaped.Police said that Abhishek Raj, a student of Raja Ram Mohan Roy Seminary School here and son of a businessman Rajiv Prasad of Bakerganj, was called by some persons near Gandhi Maidan. During the meeting, a scuffle took place between them. The group, which had come in a Maruti Swift car, bundled Abhishek Raj in the vehicle and sped away.City SP, Patna Central, Shivdeep Lande attributed the kidnapping to a love triangle. Raj’s friend Abhishek Lala was having an affair with a girl, who also developed intimacy with a gangster, Solly, accused in an Arms Act case lodged with the Kankarbagh police station.Lande said that Lala and Sollyrecently had an altercation over the girl. Lala was assaulted by Solly and hisfriends. To settle scores, Lala along with Abhishek Raj and others reachedSolly’s house and threatened his family members. “After that Lalaescaped to Jharkhand,” Lande said and added that to take revenge, Sollyplanned to teach a lesson to Raj.The SP said that on gettinginformation about the abduction, a police team led by DSP (town) Ramakantfollowed the kidnappers. Solly’s cellphone was traced to be inBakhtiyarpur locality. Directives were also issued to different rural policestations of Patna district to check the passing vehicles As the kidnapperslearnt that they were constantly being followed, they got unnerved and releasedRaj at Bakhtiyarpur.The kidnappers had mercilessly assaultedAbhishek Raj and he was under treatment now, the SP added.Lande saidthat local police received information about the kidnapping at about 10.30pm onSaturday and the victim was released at around 1.30am on Sunday. He said thepolice team concerned would be rewarded.DSP (town) Ramakant saidthat an FIR had been lodged with the police station concerned against Solly,Ajit alias Mental, Deepak, Avinash and two others in this connection. Raids wereon to arrest them.
