patna: the patna police recovered the kidnapped school boy, asim anand, from salalpur village under the daniyama police station of nalanda district. asim was kidnapped on october 15 when he was on his way to home from r p s school in kankarbagh area. the police have also arrested seven youths. all the arrested youths are below the age of 20. addressing a press conference, city sp omendra nath bhaskar informed the media about the kidnapping of asim and his subsequent recovery by the police.
earlier the youth was reported to be missing. according to bhaskar, it was asim's close friend, chandra bhushan munna, who played an important role in his kidnapping. munna persuaded asim to accompany him to rainbow maidan where the group of kidnappers took him under their custody. later asim was taken to salalpur village. meanwhile, the police arrested one shyam nandan kumar from anantpur village situated near chandi in the nalanda district. on the basis of shyam's statement, the police raided salalpur village and recovered asim from the house of ranjit kumar mahato. the criminals had demanded rs 15 lakh as ransom. they had contacted asim's father nawal kishore gararya, a pharmacist, on the mobile phone. in this connection, the police have arrested shyam nandan kumar yadav, a native of anantpur village, ranjit of salalpur village, chintu kumar of biharsharif in the same district, bishwajit kumar of soradiha under harnaut police station in nalanda, munna kumar of pariwana village under the nurasarain police station and pramod kumar of salalpur village. according to the sp, ranjit was sent to jail in connection with cases of theft and kidnapping in the past. the police are yet to arrest chandra bhushan and pankaj.
