Buxar: Resentment among judicial employees in Bihar’s subordinate courts continues to grow, as revised pay scales and promotions remain pending for nearly 20 years.
Addressing the issue on Monday in Buxar, Rajeshwar Tiwari, president of the Bihar State Civil Court Employees’ Union, said during a virtual meeting on Dec 6, state-level officials, district presidents and secretaries had expressed unanimous concern over the Patna high court’s inaction on long-standing demands related to pay hikes and promotions.
Tiwari recalled that during the union’s strike in Jan this year, the high court had assured that promotions and other demands would be considered within a month.
“Even after a year, no progress has been made,” he said, adding that union leaders voiced strong dissatisfaction. He added that the Patna high court, which often emphasises timely promotions in other departments, has itself withheld promotions for subordinate court staff for two decades.
