Jails raided across districts, no objectionable items found
Patna: In a major statewide crackdown following the formation of a new govt in Bihar, police on Friday conducted simultaneous raids in jails across at least 18 districts, including Siwan, Nalanda, Samastipur, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, East Champaran (Motihari), Supaul, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Vaishali, Munger, Kishanganj, Katihar, West Champaran (Bettiah), Saharsa, Buxar and Muzaffarpur.
The coordinated operation targeted barracks, toilets, kitchens and high-security wards housing notorious criminals, as part of efforts to tighten law and order and check any illegal activities operating from inside prisons.
In Nalanda, district administration and police teams entered Biharsharif Mandal Jail around 4am. DM Kundan Kumar and SP Bharat Soni later reached the jail and supervised the operation. Sadar SDO Santan Kumar, SDPO, Line DSP, Traffic DSP and around 230 police personnel participated in the exercise. Male and female wards, kitchen, jail hospital and the entire campus were searched. No objectionable items were found here also.
