IMD: After 2-day lull, heavy rainfall to resume in Bihar from Wednesday
Patna: Eight districts — Saran, Khagaria, Nalanda, Vaishali, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Buxar and Rohtas — recorded heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, with Parbatta in Khagaria receiving the highest rainfall at 120.4mm.
Then after a lull of two days, heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning, thunderstorms and strong winds, will resume in nearly all districts of Bihar from Wednesday, with India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert.
“After a two-day break on Monday and Tuesday, a few places in southern and north-eastern districts, including Patna, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada and Khagaria, will receive scattered rainfall,” said Anand Shanker, a weather scientist at IMD, Patna.
Although most districts remained dry on Sunday, Bhagalpur and Purnia recorded traces of rain, even as there was yellow alert for light to moderate thunderstorm and lightning, accompanied by light rainfall and gusty winds, for Samastipur, Begusarai, Saharsa and Madhubani on Sunday.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded at 35.8 degrees Celsius at Kishanganj, whereas the lowest minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius at Aurangabad.
The maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 30 degrees Celsius to 36 degrees Celsius till Saturday, while minimum will be between 24 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius across the state.
Also, the water level of Ganga river is falling in all districts, while that of Sone river remains stable in Rohtas and Patna. The water level of Punpun river is also decreasing in Arwal and Patna, even as it remains above the danger mark in Palmerganj, Aurangabad.
