Patna: In sharp contrast to the earlier placement scenario, the IIT-Patna achieved a significant milestone in the most recent 2026 placement season, with over 215 companies extending a total of 582 job offers, including emerging startups, multinational corporations, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
IIT-P sources said a comparative analysis of the 2025 and 2026 placement cycles highlights a clear and promising shift in PSU hiring trends on campus. While the 2025 session saw participation from eight major PSUs, including BPCL, HPCL, BEL, Jeevika, EIL, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), CDAC and Mecon, the 2026 season has recorded participation from at least nine PSUs till date (the placement is still going on). The notable additions include those of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and the Bureau of Indian Standards. While traditional sectors like oil and infrastructure remain highly relevant, the campus is witnessing a noticeable shift towards technology, core engineering, and advanced computing organisations, they said.
The institute is successfully expanding its corporate network. The 2024-25 season welcomed around 10 new companies for campus recruitment. Building on this momentum, the 2026 session recorded an approximate 50% increase in visits from first-time recruiters in phase I alone. Prominent global and national brands debuting at IIT-Patna in 2026 included VISA, Hyundai Motors, Versa Networks, and Nutanix, among others.
Commenting on this growth, IIT-P director T N Singh said, “These outstanding placement results highlight our steadfast commitment to academic excellence, industry readiness, and the exceptional calibre of our students.”
The chairman of IIT-P’s Centre for Career Counsel;ing and Development, N K Tomar, observed that the strategic initiatives and industry outreach played a foundational role in achieving these successful placement outcomes.
