Bhagalpur: The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhagalpur, and Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) at Sabour have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote knowledge-sharing and research in various intermediary fields and facilitate the agriculture sector through artificial intelligence (AI) based technology.
The MoU was signed by Prof Arvind Choubey, director, and Sandip Raj, associate professor, of IIIT and BAU vice- chancellor
Arun Kumar and its nodal officer Shridhar Patil on Tuesday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said farmers and farming sector will be largely benefited vis-à-vis modern technology with this initiative. “Through this MoU, we will be able to explore opportunities of undertaking joint research and development projects to achieve the goals of projects developed under this MoU with clearly defined roles for each of the parties,” he said.
Prof Choubey said the AI-based technology will be helpful in providing perfect weather reports besides modern farming and related fields. “The two institutions will explore the possibility of sharing each other’s facilities, exchange and analysis of data for education and research purposes. Efforts will be made to promote bilateral cooperation in scientific research and education through exchange and engagement of project researchers and faculties besides students,” he said.
