Patna: Taking serious note of the widening gap between generation and disposal of biomedical wastes through scientific and environmental friendly treatment plants installed for govt medical colleges and hospitals in Bihar, the Patna high court on Monday sought action taken report (ATR) from state’s pollution control board and health department for quick allotment of tenders to eligible firms for installing treatment plants. The plants are to be installed in Purnia, Sasaram, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani and Gopalganj districts.
A division bench of Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo and Justice Harish Kumar, while hearing a PIL of one Vikas Chandra alias Guddu Baba, passed the order. The two judges also asked the state govt and pollution control board to furnish details on action taken in implementation of several provisions of Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, of Bihar govt that came into effect from March 28, 2016.
The matter will be heard again on April 20.
