Grit and glory: State’s three Inter toppers set the bar high

Patna: The state’s education scene sparkled with inspiring stories of grit and determination as the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) declared the Intermediate examination results with three students from modest backgrounds emerging as the brightest achievers.

Aditi Kumari, daughter of a small shop owner in Patna, topped the commerce stream with 480 marks (96%). Nishu Kumari, a farmer’s daughter from Gaya district, secured the first position in arts with 479 marks (95.8%) while Aditya Prakash Aman from Samastipur district topped the science stream with 481 marks (96.2%).

Each of the toppers credited relentless hard work, family support and disciplined study habits for their achievements, offering an inspiring message for students across the state.

A student of St Xavier’s High School in Patna, Aditi balanced her studies with the help of the internet and artificial intelligence (AI). Her father, Ashwini Kumar, runs a small shop in the electronic market at Bakarganj in the city, while her mother is a homemaker.

Dedicating her success to her family, Aditi said, “My brother and parents are more proud than me. Even though I was the one studying, my entire family worked hard alongside me so that the result would be good.”

She said she had resolved to top the examination after narrowly missing the top position in Class 10.

Aditi aspires to become a chartered accountant and dreams of opening her own firm.

Her father, Ashwini Kumar, said, “Today my daughter has made me proud. Among thousands of shops in Bakarganj, I too have a small shop, but today my daughter has given me a distinct identity.”

In the arts stream, Nishu Kumari from Lodipur village in Khijarsarai block of Gaya district emerged as the state topper with 479 marks. Her performance was particularly remarkable in Geography, where she scored a perfect 100 marks. She also secured 90 in English, 97 in Hindi, 97 in History and 95 in Political Science.

Her father, Amod Kumar, is a farmer and her mother, Rinki Kumari, is a homemaker. Despite limited resources, the family prioritised education.

Nishu said, “I achieved this feat through hard work, discipline, and the blessings of my family. Now I am planning to go out for higher studies to make my parents proud.”

Her father said, “She has been very hardworking in studies from the very beginning. She was also the 2nd topper of her school in the Matriculation examination. I hoped that she would definitely make it to the top 10 in Bihar, but my daughter surpassed all expectations by securing the 1st position in the entire state.”

Science topper Aditya Prakash Aman from Mokhtiyarpur Salkhanni in Samastipur district also attributed his success to disciplined self-study and family support. His father, Harendra Kumar, is a govt school teacher, while his mother, Rinku Devi, is a homemaker.

After the results were announced, Aditya said, “I am feeling very good… thank you all. In this examination, I focused a lot on writing skills because in all the exams conducted by the BSEB, writing matters a lot.”

Encouraging other students, he added, “I want to give a message to students appearing in any examination — study and don't focus on the result. God surely grants success. You just put in the effort… I give credit for this to Radha-Rani, my parents, and all the teachers.”

His mother said, “This achievement of my son means everything. He has always been hardworking.”

His father added that despite modest financial circumstances, Aditya remained focused on his studies and relied heavily on self-study. Aditya now hopes to become a doctor and serve society.
