Gaya: Gaya DM Shashank Shubhankar on Saturday inspected proposed venues for the construction of strong room and counting centres for the forthcoming assembly elections. The inspection, he said, was carried out in the light of directions issued by the
Election Commission of India and the chief election officer, Bihar.
Accompanied by ADM (revenue) Paritosh Kumar and other district officials, the DM visited the Gaya College premises and the Bazar Samiti complex to assess sites for the strong room and other facilities necessary for the fair conduct of polls.
The DM asked officials, including returning officers and executive engineers of the building construction department, to prepare plans for constituency-wise strong rooms, dispatch centres and counting centres for the assembly elections.
Highlighting the scale of the arrangements required in Gaya, he said in comparison to the other four districts of Magadh division, Gaya district needs a larger strong room as 10 of the 26 assembly constituencies of the division fall under its jurisdiction. The other four districts together account for 16 constituencies with Arwal being the smallest having only two assembly segments.
