PATNA: Five persons were arrested on Tuesday for their suspected involvement in a road robbery. A pistol, one live cartridge and two looted motorcycles were recovered from their possession.
Ayush Kumar and Nitish Kumar were arrested from Ram Lakhan Path in Kankarbagh locality of the state capital by policemen deployed in mufti by Patna SSP Jitender Rana.
They revealed vital information about their other associates leading to the arrest of Ricky Kumar, Ajit Kumar and Sonu Mishra.
The SSP said the arrested persons revealed that their gang has around ten members and all of them have criminal antecedents. They have several cases lodged against them with the Kankarbagh, Jakkanpur and Patrakar Nagar police stations.
Arms suppliers arrested: Two suspected arms dealers, Ajit Kumar and Subodh Kumar, were arrested near a private water park in the state capital. Three country-made pistols, three live cartridges of .303 bore and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession. Patna SSP said Subodh has criminal background and served jail term in connection with a case lodged with Gaurichak police station.
Absconder arrested: One Guddu Kumar alias Nepali was arrested near Gyandeep School under Digha police station area on Tuesday. A pistol and a live cartridge were seized from his possession. The SSP said Nepali had recently absconded from the lock-up on Danapur court campus. He was involved in several burglary and loot cases.
Constable suspended: Constable Jitendra Kumar was suspended on Tuesday after he reportedly lost his service revolver in a brief scuffle with a truck driver in a drunken state on Monday night. Sources said he was posted in the Rangdari cell earlier and the attack might have different reasons.
SSP Rana said the constable reported that he had a brawl with an alleged truck driver. He said the constable alleged that his opponents took away his revolver in the scuffle.
