PATNA/BAGAHA: Five teenage boys drowned while taking bath in a canal near Gola Road under the Daudnagar police station area in Aurangabad town on Thursday.
SHO of Aurangabad police station Abhay Kumar Singh said the five had gone to the canal after playing Holi. The victims were identified as Juti Kumar (20), Nishant Kumar (19), Gyan Sagar (19), Raushan Kumar (16) and Saurav Kumar (17).
“The incident took place between 12 noon and 1pm.
The bodies of the five were fished out hours after the incident and handed over to their family members after post mortem,” the SHO said. He added except Raushan, the four victims were studying at Kota in
Rajasthan.
“The four had come to Aurangabad to celebrate Holi with their family members,” the SHO said.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy drowned near Panapur Pipapul on the banks of the Ganga under Akilpur police station area in Patna district on Thursday. SHO Aman Ashraf said the youth was identified as Aman Sagar, a resident of Naya Gaon under the Danapur police station area. “Aman’s body was fished out from the river on Friday,” the SHO added.
Holi clash: Two groups of people clashed over playing vulgar Holi songs in Malpurwa locality of Bagaha town on Thursday. Six people, including former ward councillor Vinod Kushwaha, were injured seriously in the clash. Police have arrested five people, including ward councillor Sambhu Chaudhary, in connection with the clash, Bagaha SHO Jitendar Kumar Singh said.
