Film star Pawan Singh gets bail in MCC violation case
Sasaram: The court of Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Rajat Deep in Rohtas district on Tuesday granted bail to Bhojpuri film star and singer Pawan Singh in connection with a case related to the alleged violation of the model code of conduct (MCC).
As soon as Pawan reached the court premises, a commotion erupted as many media persons attempted to take photographs and shoot videos. They were stopped by the film star’s security men.
According to his counsel and president of the Sub-Divisional Bar Association, Manoj Kumar Agyani, an FIR was registered against Pawan during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at Akorhi Gola police station for violation of the MCC. The case also names Rajpur resident Ambuj Kumar Singh and two others as accused. All the accused appeared before the SDJM court. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court granted bail to the accused.
Pawan had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Karakat parliamentary constituency.
During the election campaign, he allegedly took out a roadshow accompanied by a long convoy of luxury vehicles. The case pertains to conducting a roadshow with more vehicles than the permissible limit and also not obtaining prior permission from the authorities.
Sources said a total of six cases related to MCC violations were registered against Pawan during the election period—five at Bikramganj police station and one at Akorhi Gola police station.
