Ensure 100% participation in Census self-enumeration: Govt
Patna: While reviewing preparations for self-enumeration ahead of Census 2027, chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Thursday asked all departments to ensure 100% participation of employees within the stipulated period.
The self-enumeration exercise will begin from April 17 and continue till May 1, before the first phase of census operations starts on May 2, with house listing and house enumeration.
The meeting began with a presentation by the director of census operations-cum-chief principal census officer, Bihar, who briefed the chief secretary on preparedness for self-enumeration.
Calling the exercise a matter of national importance, the chief secretary said all departments and district administrations must act strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the govt of India. He directed district magistrates, additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and secretaries to ensure the campaign is carried out successfully.
Amrit instructed departments to ensure all officials and staff working in directorates, divisions, corporations and district-level offices complete self-enumeration on time.
He also asked district magistrates to prepare lists of distinguished persons at the district, sub-divisional and block levels and ensure their participation in self-enumeration to encourage wider public involvement.
The chief secretary directed officials to undertake an extensive public awareness campaign for self-enumeration, with support from Jeevika Didis in rural areas to improve outreach.
He said training of enumerators and supervisors was underway in districts and needed close monitoring.
District magistrates were also directed to complete houselisting block creation and HLB carving work on the census management monitoring system (CMMS) portal within one week.
Senior officials, including the additional chief secretary of the general administration department and the principal secretary of the revenue and land reforms department, also issued instructions to district magistrates and departmental secretaries during the meeting.
