Encroachments on govt land in state will be removed without exception, says CM
Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Sunday said any structure built by encroaching on govt or public land would be demolished without exception, and such land would be cleared under all circumstances.
Addressing a ‘Samvad’ programme during the live broadcast of the 133rd edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ at Baijalpur village in Munger district’s Tarapur, Samrat said he had been informed the administration was demolishing the staircase of his own house in Tarapur. “This showed the government’s intent is clear — any structure built by encroaching on government land will be demolished. Encroached land will be freed in every circumstance,” he said.
The visit marked Samrat’s first trip to his home constituency of Tarapur after taking oath as chief minister.
Addressing people, he said strict action would be taken against officials who keep files pending for more than a month. He added the Chief Minister’s Office would put in place a monitoring system for blocks, “anchal” offices and police stations to improve accountability and service delivery.
Samrat said the govt’s priority was to ensure basic facilities and make public services easier to access. To address grievances, he announced camps would be organised in panchayats for two days every month under the ‘Sahyog’ programme, enabling residents to resolve issues closer to home.
On development and investment, the CM said Bihar aims to secure investments worth Rs 5 lakh crore by Nov. He said efforts are underway to establish a large number of factories and cited ongoing investments of Rs 1.36 lakh crore in projects such as the Pirpainti Thermal Power Plant and the Navinagar Thermal Power Plant. He also outlined plans to reduce dependence on govt-supplied electricity by promoting rooftop solar installations. According to him, solar panels on homes would enable people to receive 150 units of electricity.
He said his govt has come to fulfil the “unfulfilled dreams” of the people. Among infrastructure projects, he mentioned a ‘Riverside Drive’ from Munger to Bhagalpur. He said work is underway to hold back Ganga waters to provide relief from floods. Irrigation facilities are being expanded, and water from the Ganga is being stored in lakes and dams. Stressing agriculture, Samrat said Bihar cannot become strong unless its farmers prosper.
Responding to a local demand, he said a college has already been built in Asarganj and residents now want a sports ground. He assured land would be identified, and if public land is unavailable, it would be purchased.
Samrat also referred to the Kolkata Expressway passing through Asarganj and said once completed, it would reduce travel time to Kolkata to five or six hours. Thanking people of Tarapur for electing him by what he described as the highest margin since Independence, he said he remained indebted and would work to fulfil their aspirations.
He said the NDA’s 202-seat mandate reflects public trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar. He said he would continue visiting panchayats across Tarapur and efforts would be made to bring industries to the area. His goal, he said, was to create conditions where people may leave Bihar for better opportunities by choice, but not out of compulsion.
He also urged women who have not yet received funds for setting up industries to submit applications quickly, saying the remaining beneficiaries would receive assistance in May.
