Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) on Tuesday announced nine more pairs of special trains, taking the total number of such trains to 20, for the convenience of passengers travelling to their homes to celebrate Holi.
The new services will begin operating from Feb 22.
According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, the special trains will originate from or pass through several key locations within the ECR jurisdiction, including Kharagpur-Jhajha, Udhna-Hasanpur Road, Chapalli-Raxaul, Gandhidham-Bhagalpur, Dhankuni-Anand Vihar, Malda Town-Anand Vihar, Sealdah-Gorakhpur and Asansol-Gorakhpur routes.
A railway board directive has instructed zonal railways and officials concerned to prioritise the punctuality and cleanliness of these special trains, sources said.
Passengers are encouraged to check with local railway stations or official websites for detailed schedules and updates as the start date approaches, the CPRO said, adding the railways is also advising passengers to plan ahead and secure their tickets early as demand for these special trains is likely to be high this time.
