PURNIA/ARARIA: In a despicable act, an assistant sub-inspector, who was deputed at a flood relief camp, tried to outrage the modesty of a girl evacuee at Bathnaha railway station in Araria district on Saturday evening.
The cop, K K Chowdhury, was drunk. His move angered her relatives and flood victims at the station. They tried to beat up the policeman.

But by then, Government Rail Police (GRP) personnel had descended on the scene. Chowdhury was arrested. Taking swift action, Araria SP M A Siddiqui suspended the ASI on Sunday.
Chowdhury, posted at Simrahi police station, was currently deputed at a flood relief camp in Bathnaha.
Additional DG (HQ) Anil Sinha said in Patna that the ASI had been arrested "on the charge of creating nuisance at the railway station in an inebriated condition". He denied the molestation charge.
Sinha said the state police force is doing an "exemplary work" in carrying out relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected Kosi region. "No one will be allowed to tarnish this image. There will be zero tolerance for errant behaviour," he said.
NGO Bhumika Bihar, apprehending contemptible activities towards girls and women evacuees at relief camps, has asked female counsellors to educate them so that they do not fall prey to inducements and carrots from suspicious and sneaky helpers.
