Deputy CM Samrat opens wrestling meet in Jamui

Patna: Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary on Saturday inaugurated the ‘Mati Ka Bal Dangal’ (wrestling) competition. A total of 188 male and female wrestlers from across Bihar are participating in the two-day event organised under the joint auspices of the sports department, Bihar State Sports Authority and Bihar Wrestling Association at the S K Singh Memorial Stadium in Jamui.

Sports minister Shreyasi Singh said the govt’s goal is to ensure that athletes from Bihar participate in the Olympics.


Samrat said he felt happy and proud to witness the historic wrestling competition on the soil of Jamui. “This competition, which brings to life Bihar’s traditional wrestling, is a confluence of the state’s tradition, bravery and culture. Infrastructure is being rapidly developed throughout Bihar for the development of sports, so that more international-level athletes can be produced in the state,” he said.

Shreyasi said Bihar is also establishing its identity internationally in the field of sports. The government is committed to the all-round development of sports and athletes and is continuously making every possible effort in this direction, she said.

“Being a sportsperson and sports minister, I assure you all that no stone will be left unturned to take Bihar to new heights in the field of sports.
