Deluxe rooms at IGIMS soon

PATNA: The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (

IGIMS

) will soon construct four airconditioned rooms equipped with TV and fridge for its patients.


IGIMS medical superintendent Dr Manish Mandal said on Monday four private ward rooms would be renovated and converted into deluxe rooms. “We will also install water

purifiers

in each room,” he said and added the deluxe room stay would cost Rs 5,000 per night.

The IGIMS will also soon have a 30-bed “transition zone”, where patients from emergency wards will be shifted once they become stable. “The ‘transition zone’ will up the availability of beds in the emergency wards,” Dr Mandal said.

A paediatric ICU (intensive

care

unit) will also come up at the IGIMS.

The unit

will have six beds for patients aged between one month and 14 years. “As of now, we have six beds in neonatal ICU for one-day-old to one- month-old infants and six beds in paediatric surgical ICU for children who have undergone surgical procedures,” Dr Mandal said.

Sources said the IGIMS management has also planned to increase the number of beds in the hospital’s eye department from 18 to 40.
