CS: Farmer registry drive to start on Feb 2
Patna: A review meeting on the progress of the Agristack project was held in Bihar under the chairmanship of chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit with all district magistrates joining through videoconferencing. The meeting reviewed ongoing work and achievements through a detailed presentation and set a mission-mode schedule for the farmer registry from Feb 2 to 6 to connect the maximum number of farmers to the system.
The chief secretary ordered that no fee of any kind be charged from farmers and that the previous service charge of Rs 15 collected through common service centres (CSC) and Vasudha centres would no longer be collected. The cost will be borne by the concerned department, ensuring direct benefit to farmers.
He directed that Agristack work be expedited to enable Bihar to move to the second phase of the project at the earliest, stressing that implementation must prioritise the state’s interests. All districts were instructed to ensure registry of at least 50% of PM-Kisan beneficiary farmers within the stipulated timeframe, and districts with satisfactory progress were asked to intensify efforts further.
To drive performance, the govt announced district-level incentives linked to registration targets. Districts completing 50% registration of PM-Kisan beneficiaries will receive Rs 1.5 lakh, while districts achieving 35% registration will be rewarded with Rs 50,000.
Principal secretary, agriculture department, Narmadeshwar Lal, said district magistrates must ensure preparation of farmer IDs for every raiyat farmer, describing the initiative as a major step towards delivering benefits of govt schemes to farmers transparently, conveniently and in a time-bound manner.
