PATNA: The Patna police would soon prepare a list of people living around Beur central jail. The move, according to officials, has been necessitated in the wake of Bhopal jailbreak.
Jail sources said more than 50 private houses have come up around the boundary wall of the jail. “We have asked the police to prepare a detailed list of people living in these houses for security reasons,” said Patna district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
He added that the police would also prepare the list of tenants and maids working in these houses.
Officials of the district administration raided the Beur jail around 3am on Tuesday and recovered a cellphone charger and pen drive from there. “The Phulwarisharif SDPO has been asked to finish investigation in connection with a recent scuffle in the jail between constables and 10 terror suspects,”| the DM said, adding that night patrolling has been intensified in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
Sources, however, said the jail was yet to get 20 baton-wielding policemen for which it had written to Patna police almost two months back. The Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) personnel manning the jail are also likely to be transferred soon.
