Congress protests police raid on Khera’s house
In a spirited display of dissent, Bihar Congress supporters, under the guidance of state president Rajesh Ram, gathered at the party's headquarters to protest against the Assam administration.
Patna: Bihar Congress workers led by state president Rajesh Ram on Tuesday staged a protest against the Assam govt over a police raid at the residence of party national spokesperson Pawan Khera. The demonstration was held outside the party headquarters Sadaquat Ashram as part of a nationwide protest programme. The protest also opposed an FIR lodged against Khera by the wife of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over allegations that she possessed multiple passports and undisclosed assets abroad. “By raiding the house of Khera, head of the Congress’s media department, the Assam police have shown political vendetta. The BJP govts have been using official machinery to suppress the voice of the opposition,” Ram said. “What the Assam police have done is an instance of trampling of democracy, freedom of expression and also the opposition voice,” he added.
