CM releases social security pension to more than 94 lakh beneficiaries
Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday transferred Rs1,100 each to the bank accounts of more than 94 lakh beneficiaries of various social security schemes to mark Narendra Modi setting the record of being the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of the country.
The CM transferred the amount under six schemes of the state govt, including those for senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities, during a programme held at Bihar Bhawan in New Delhi.
“A total sum of approximately Rs1,100 crore was transferred on Wednesday,” said a communique issued from the chief minister’s office (CMO).
The state govt last year increased the monthly pensions of senior citizens, widows and people with disabilities to Rs1,100 per month from Rs400.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, “It is the responsibility of our govt to provide social security to the poor, deprived and needy sections of Bihar. We provide the benefit of various social security pensions to elderly people above 60 years of age, widows and disabled persons. On the auspicious occasion of PM Narendra Modi Ji completing the longest tenure as an elected Prime Minister, today we are sending an amount of approximately Rs1,100 crore at the rate of Rs1,100 per month into the accounts of more than 94 lakh beneficiaries of these schemes.”
He said from now on, the state govt would transfer the amount into the accounts of the beneficiaries on the 10th of every month.
The CM also said the people aged 60 years or above who are not getting the benefit of the social security pension scheme should apply soon to receive the benefit. Also, those deprived of pension due to their Aadhaar number not being linked should soon get their Aadhaar linked and avail themselves of the benefit of the social security pension scheme.
The CM’s secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and resident commissioner Manoj Kumar were present at Bihar Bhawan, while the state’s social welfare minister Shweta Gupta, chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit, additional chief secretary H R Srinivas, district magistrates of all districts and beneficiaries were connected through video conferencing.
