CM launches enumeration phase of Census 2027

Patna: Newly appointed CM Samrat Choudhary on Friday launched the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 at the CM secretariat here.

He called upon the residents of the state to ensure active participation in the census process, stating, “Census 2027 will lay a strong foundation for the bright future of Bihar and the country.”




Choudhary, in a statement, said: “The census is the cornerstone of good governance, which will play a crucial role in shaping development plans, policies and welfare programmes in the coming years. Census 2027 is a historically significant initiative from a technological standpoint. For the first time, it will feature fully digital data collection along with the self-enumeration facility, which will be available from April 17 to May 1.”

He said in the first phase of Census 2027 in the state, House Listing Operations (HLO) will be carried out from May 2 to May 31.

Appealing to all citizens of the state, the CM urged them to participate wholeheartedly in this campaign of national importance. He called upon people to contribute towards completing an accurate, inclusive and credible census — either through self-enumeration or by extending cooperation to enumerators.

CM’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar and secretaries to the CM, Anupam Kumar and Kumar Ravi, were among those present on the occasion.

As part of the process, former CM Nitish Kumar registered himself through self-enumeration.

“Under Census 2027, self-enumeration has started today. I have got myself registered,” Nitish wrote in a post on X.

Later in the afternoon, the CM visited Baba Harihar Nath Temple located in Sonepur with his family and offered prayers. He prayed for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the state.
