Clean courts reflect clear mindset: CJ

Patna: Stressing the need to improve hygiene and cleanliness standards in courtrooms across the state, chief justice of Patna high court, Sangam Kumar Sahoo, said at a felicitation function, “A clean court reflects a clear mindset.” He appealed to advocates for their active co-operation and suggestions in keeping courtrooms and corridors clean and hygienic.

The function was organised by the Lawyers’ Association of Patna High Court at L N Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change to felicitate the chief justice and other judges.




Apart from CJ Sahoo, justices Nani Tagia, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Shailendra Singh, Arun Kumar Jha, Jitendra Kumar and justice Ansul were felicitated by advocates Uma Shanker and Rajeev Kumar Singh, president and secretary general of the association.

President of Bihar State Bar Council, Ramakant Sharma, senior counsels Yadu Vansh Giri and Ajay Thakur also greeted the judges.

CJ Sahoo said each district court in Bihar will soon have a vulnerable witnesses deposition centre (VWDC). These centres will have technically equipped rooms under strict safety measures for vulnerable witnesses such as children, survivors of sexual assault, persons with disabilities and elderly persons.

“These VWDCs are functioning under tight safety and security with all conducive environments where vulnerable witnesses can render their oral evidence (depositions) or can testify to an accused without any threat or intimidation,” he said.

He added, “Ensuring safe environment to vulnerable witnesses by giving them separate deposition centres is the backbone of justice delivery system and we have been assured by the top brass of state government in providing VWDC in each district.”Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Valentine's day wishes, messages and quotes !
