Patna: Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) on Monday hosted a workshop on NAAC accreditation process organized by the Bihar State Higher Education Council. Altogether 81 participants from different colleges and universities participated in it.
The event was attended, among others, by education minister Chandra Shekhar as chief guest along with additional chief secretary (education) Dipak Kumar Singh, Rekha Kumari, director, higher education, N K Agrawal, state nodal officer, Shyam Singh Inda, assistant advisor, NAAC, Professor Dolly Sinha, Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, Dr Kameshwar Jha, vice-chairman, Bihar State Higher Education Council and Prof Rana Singh, director, CIMP. The workshop started with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by guests.
Speaking on the occasion, education minister Chandra Shekhar said he was delighted to see a large number of participants in the workshop. "Now colleges are giving their best to move forward for the betterment of education in Bihar...it is very sad to know that in world rankings none of the universities of India hold a position and we need to work in the field of education," the minister said.
He also emphasised the importance and contribution of Bihar in the education sector. Prof Rekha Kumari, director, higher education, opened the event with a welcome speech. In her address she spoke about the importance of accreditation. Prof N.K Agrawal, in his opening remarks and introduction, urged all the universities and colleges of Bihar to go for the accreditation process. He said the youth of Bihar have to play a vital role in bringing back the old glory of Bihar in the education sector.
Prof Agrawal mentioned that the universities were now performing various tasks and showing their interest in various activities of NAAC. He also mentioned that the various universities were now showing interest in participating in the NIRF ranking.
Shyam Singh Inda. assistant advisor, NAAC, thanked CIMP and talked about the "MARGDARSHAK" scheme launched by NAAC for the mentoring process.
