Patna: Nearly 1.40 lakh cancer cases are detected in Bihar every year and 70% of the patients are found in the advanced stage of the disease. These facts were revealed at a workshop on ‘Strengthening palliative care service in the state’ held here on Tuesday
The workshop was organised by Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Muzaffarpur centre, along with the state health department. The experts laid stress on proper palliative care for cancer patients. HBCHRC-Muzaffarpur in charge Dr Ravikant Singh shared the data of cancer patients, including those in the advanced stage in Bihar. Dr Somnath Dey from Varanasi said at least 100 new cases come in palliative care OPD every day and to reduce the pressure, there is a need to have a regional pan centre. TNN
