Buxar police recover 73 stolen cellphones
Buxar: Under ‘Operation Muskan’, a special drive launched on the directions of Bihar Police headquarters, Buxar police recovered 73 lost or stolen cellphones worth around Rs 15 lakh.
Following the recovery, a distribution programme was organised on Tuesday under the leadership of Buxar SP Shubham Arya during which all the cellphones were handed over to their rightful owners.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP said under ‘Operation Muskan’ police have so far recovered and returned 1,541 cellphones to their owners. He said the campaign has been consistently successful and has helped strengthen public trust in the police.
“Losing personal belongings causes mental distress. It is the responsibility of the police to trace and return lost or stolen property so that people feel relieved,” the SP said. He added that efforts are also being made to recover other stolen items, including motorcycles.
Pawan Mishra, headmaster of government middle school Rajdiha under Dumraon block, who received his phone back, said: “I had lost all hope of getting my phone again. I am thankful to the Buxar police for their hard work and honesty.”
The police administration has appealed to the people to immediately lodge a complaint at the police station concerned if their cellphone or any other item is lost or stolen, so that timely action can be taken for recovery.
