GAYA: The BJP on Monday evening announced its decision to violate the MCC ban imposed on the land owners of village Adai under the Konch police station of the district.

The announcement was made by senior party leader and three term Gaya town MLA Prem Kumar at a press conference in the presence of former Union minister CP Thakur.

The announcement came as a surprise to news persons.
They wanted the former Union Minister to confirm whether this was the party''s decision or the personal opinion of Kumar.

Thakur endorsed Prem Kumar''s announcement and said that it was the decision of the party. As an after thought, Prem Kumar said that BJP workers would take up the plough only if the state govt failed to ensure uninterrupted cultivation of the land belonging to the Adai land owners.

MCC, it may be recalled, has imposed economic blockade in the village and banned the cultivation of land. It also prevented villagers from harvesting the Rabi crop, this year.

Thousands of landless people and marginal farmers, for nearly two decades, have been wandering with land settlement papers, as they have either been dispossessed of their land or never been allowed to take possession of the land allotted to them.

Earlier, on Monday, a BJP team led by former Union Minister C P Thakur visited Adai and Bali villages of Konch police station. At least thrice in the recent past, the Adai village has been targeted by the MCC and no less than 10 persons have lost their lives in the three MCC attacks.

Thakur alleged that the marauders were being patronised by the state govt and the Adai villagers have been targeted for supporting the BJP candidate Balbir Chand in the Parliamentary elections. C P Thakur also alleged that MCC activists doubled as RJD workers.

C P Thakur requested the state govt to bring the culprits of Adai killings to book and speedily execute development projects including road and hospital in the village.

When reminded about the apparent contradiction between his assertion of the marauders being patronised by the state govt and simultaneous appeal to the govt to punish the guilty, a somewhat embarrassed Thakur said that the systems functioning left him with no alternative other than approaching the same govt, which, he alleged was presiding over the violence and caste war.
