PATNA: Ending their boycott of the state assembly, the opposition members attended the House in its pre-lunch session on Thursday, but continued to disrupt the proceedings on the fifth and final day of the monsoon session by creating uproar over the Agnipath scheme.
Earlier, assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha rejected the opposition’s demands, including release of the Agnipath protesters and the withdrawal of the FIRs lodged against them.
The demands had been made through adjournment motions moved by the RJD and
Congress. Sinha maintained that the House discussion over the issue could not be held as it was a central government matter.
Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hazari was in the chair for the first time when the House met to conduct the pre-lunch sitting. He tried to take up the short-notice questions for replies from the ministers, and in one case, when deputy CM and senior BJP member Tarkishore stood up to give the government’s reply on a question from the treasury bench member, he met with a long raucous noise.
