PATNA: The state government on Wednesday announced two-day state mourning in view of the death of former Punjab chief minister and
Akali Dal patriarch,
Parkash Singh Badal, who died at a private hospital in Mohali on Tuesday. He was 95.
"During the mourning period on April 26 and 27, the national flag will be flown half-mast throughout the state on all buildings. No government ceremonies or official entertainment will take place on these two days," a circular issued by the state's cabinet secretariat department said.
Earlier on Tuesday, CM Nitish Kumar mourned Badal's death saying, "Badal successfully discharged several important responsibilities during his long political career.
He was popular for his value-based politics. I had a deep attachment with him. His death has caused an irreparable loss in the socio-political field."
