Nitish Kumar on Saturday visited the historic Gandhi Maidan here and attended a mass prayer on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.
After reaching the Gandhi Maidan, the CM met Imam Hazrat Maulana Mahsood Ahmad Qadri Naqvi and extended him good wishes and good luck. Maulana Naqvi too extended his good wishes to the CM and prayed for happiness, progress and development of all people in Bihar.
The CM extended Eid wishes to all members of Muslim community, especially all Namajis who had gathered at the sprawling Gandhi Maidan to participate in the Eid prayers.
The Eidain Committee chairman Mehmood Alam welcomed the CM at the Gandhi Maidan by offering him a flower bouquet and a ‘Safa’.
While interacting with media persons at the end of the prayers, Nitish said he had been visiting the Gandhi Maidan on Eid-Ul-Fitr every year since 2006. “The Eid prayers could not be organised at the Gandhi maidan for two years (in 2020 and 2021) due to Covid-19. I feel happiness after arriving here on Eid every year. The overall atmosphere is good here,” he said.
Nitish also said he respects each person irrespective of his/ her religious faith.
“I work for the upliftment and progress of the people of each section of the society. I take all possible efforts to maintain the feeling of mutual love and brotherhood among the members of different faiths,” Nitish said and urged people to respect each other’s faith.
The CM’s Principal Secretary S Siddhartha, Patna divisional commissioner Kumar Ravi, Inspector General of Police (Patna range) Rakesh Rathi, Patna DM Chandra Shekhar Singh, Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra and several other senior officials were present on the occasion at the Gandhi Maidan.
Accompanied by water resources-cum-information and public relations minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, the CM later visited the Khanquah Mujeebia and the Imarat-E-Sharia in Phulwari Sharif on Eid and took blessings from the heads of the both religious places.
After that, the CM visited Edara-E-Sharia in Sultanganj area where he met the former MLC Ghulam Rasool Baliyawi and extended good wishes to him. Members of Edara-E-Sharia extended thanks to the CM for the good works done for peace and progress in Bihar.
The CM also visited the Khanqah-E-Munemia and the Khanquah Bargah-e-Ishq (Takiya Sharif) in Mittan Ghat area of Patna Sahib and extended good wishes to the people present there.
Nitish also visited the houses of famous general surgeon Dr Ahmad Abdul Hai, the RJD’s Rajya Sabha member Ahmad Ashfaq Karim and many other prominent personalities in Muslim communities and extended good wishes to them on Eid.
