Ara: Concerned over complaints that consumers in both urban and rural areas of Bhojpur district are facing difficulties in procuring LPG cylinders and using LPG in commercial establishments, district magistrate Tanai Sultania on Thursday warned that any form of black-marketing, hoarding, overcharging or irregularities in the sale and distribution of LPG will not be tolerated.
The DM said officials have been deputed block-wise across all 14 blocks of the district to inspect gas agencies and ensure that consumers do not face inconvenience.
“Officials have been deputed block-wise in all the fourteen blocks of the district to conduct inspection of gas agencies in their respective areas so that no inconvenience is faced by the consumers of the district. All deputed officers have been directed to carry out joint and intensive inspection of the concerned gas agencies in their respective block areas from Thursday and review the distribution system thoroughly,” Sultania said.
She warned that strict legal action would follow if any irregularities are detected. “If any gas distributor or individual is found involved in black-marketing, illegal storage, hoarding or irregular sale of LPG, strict action will be taken against them under sections 3, 6A, and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955,” the DM added.
Officials deputed for the inspections have been directed to submit detailed reports to the district administration. Sub-divisional officers of the district’s three sub-divisions have also been instructed to maintain continuous monitoring of LPG supply and distribution in their respective jurisdictions.
A district official said the administration had taken serious note of reports suggesting possible misleading propaganda and black-marketing at some locations and ordered an immediate inquiry.
