Begusarai: A 15-year-old girl, who hanged herself on Tuesday after her mother snatched her cellphone, died during treatment at the local sadar hospital on Thursday night.
Police said, on Tuesday, Aanchal Kumari’s mother Nutan Devi was going to attend the live telecast launch of ‘Bihar Rajya jeevika nidhi saakh sahkari samiti limited’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, organised in a neighbouring village as the latter worked with Jeevika.
While leaving the house she saw Anchal, a resident of Bagwara village under Singhaul police station area, engrossed with the cellphone. This irked Nutan, and she snatched the phone from her daughter before leaving the house. Her action made Aanchal so upset that she hanged herself.
In the afternoon, when Nutan returned, she found her daughter hanging inside the house. As she cried for help, local people rushed Aanchal to the sadar hospital. However, she breathed her last on Thursday night. Aanchal was a resident of Bagwara village under Singhaul police station area.
A relative, Gangaram Mahto, said Aanchal was a class IX student of the govt high school in the village.
