PATNA: Two cancer societies have decided to work together for combating the deadly disease of cancer in Bihar. The Cancer Awareness Society (CAS), headed by former DGP T P Sinha, and Dr Subhadra Upadhyay Memorial Cancer Society (SUMCS), headed by former chief I-T commissioner A S Thakur, have agreed to co-operate for the same.
While the CAS will be the lead agency for cancer awareness and preventive programmes, the SUMCS will work as lead agency for cancer treatment.

Both Sinha and Thakur said the two societies will organise a number of common programmes on Sunday. This will include a cancer clinic at SU Nursing Home which will be attended by head of medical oncology at the Mumbai-based Tata Memorial Hospital P M Parikh, besides G S Bhattacharya, R N Tagore, C B Sahay and Anshuman Manasvi.
The cancer clinic will be followed by a cancer survivors meet on the same day where 25 survivors would be felicitated. A helpline for cancer patients, manned by a specialist, would also be launched on the occasion.
