Patna: As many as 48,21,184 electors — 22,77,827 women, 25,43,200 men and 157 third gender — in Patna district are eligible to cast their vote in the first phase of the assembly elections on Nov 6, district magistrate (DM) Thiyagarajan SM announced at a press briefing on Monday.
Among them, there are 82,030 electors of 18-19 years of age and 34,288 electors above 85 years. The elector population ratio is 0.58.
The district will have a total of 5,665 polling stations across 14 assembly constituencies — Mokama, Barh, Bakhtiarpur, Digha, Bankipur, Kumhrar, Patna Sahib, Fatuha, Danapur, Maner, Phulwari, Masaurhi, Paliganj and Bikram. Out of these, 2,655 polling stations are located in urban areas and 3,010 in rural areas.
Digha and Kumhrar constituencies have more than four lakh electors each, Bankipur, Patna Sahib, Danapur, Maner, Phulwari, Masaurhi and Bikram over three lakh electors each, and Mokama, Barh, Bakhtiarpur, Fatuha and Paliganj have more than two lakh electors each.
Basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, ramps, sheds and electricity are being ensured at all polling stations. Ideal polling stations will also be established to increase voter enthusiasm.
The DM said that political parties, candidates or individuals associated with the election process are prohibited from using govt vehicles, except for official duties. Govt property will not be used for political advertisements. School or college grounds can be used for political rallies provided the academic calendar is not affected, and a no-objection certificate is obtained from the institution.
In the last assembly election held in 2020, Patna district had 46,36,463 electors, comprising 24,34,033 men, 22,02,267 women and 163 third gender.
