Armed intrusion bid by two youths at Patna civil court triggers panic
Patna: A security breach took place at the Patna civil court on Wednesday when two armed youths attempted to enter the premises.
Security personnel caught one of them with a pistol during a routine check, while the other managed to escape. The incident triggered a panic in the court, with advocates and others present there expressing concern over the situation.
On getting information, Town DSP-1 Rajesh Ranjan, reached the spot along with the police force and carried out a search operation on the court campus to arrest the other person. Security of the court was tightened as a threat was received to blow up the five civil courts through an e-mail.
Town SDPO-1 Rajesh Ranjan said, “Security personnel posted at the main entrance of the civil court checked visitors as per their daily routine. Meanwhile, two youths were trying to enter the premises under suspicious circumstances. A pistol was recovered from one youth, after which security personnel immediately overpowered him. However, his companion managed to escape, taking advantage of the situation.”
Ranjan further said the arrested accused was identified as Piyush Kumar (22), a resident of Hajipur. A pistol, two magazines, and eight live cartridges were recovered from his possession. He was taken into custody and brought to Pirbahore police station for interrogation.
“One accused is still absconding, and the district police cell, STF, and local police personnel are engaged in searching for him. We are also investigating the purpose of their visit to the court with arms and who their target was,” the SDPO-1 added.
Patna civil court lawyer Rishikesh Narayan Sinha said, “Security lapses always happen in Patna civil court. Today at 11am, one criminal carrying a pistol was caught. For this, I thank the security personnel deployed on the premises.”
