Anganwadi supervisor held for taking bribe in Nalanda

Biharsharif: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Wednesday arrested an Anganwadi supervisor, Sushma Kumari, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,200 at the Nagarnausa block headquarters in Nalanda district. The arrest was part of an ongoing anti-corruption drive.

According to VIB officials, the trap was laid by a seven-member team led by DSP Shashi Shekhar Chaudhary. The accused was caught at her residential quarters within the block campus. Inspector Vinod Kumar was among the officials involved in the operation.

The action followed a complaint by Anganwadi worker Baby Kumari, posted at Kanchan Bhawan-1, Centre No. 28 (Ward No. 3). The complainant alleged that the supervisor had been demanding money for signing the nutrition register and clearing routine official work.

As per the complaint, the accused had demanded 20% of Rs 15,747, along with a monthly payment of Rs 3,200. After verifying the allegations, the vigilance team set a trap and arrested her while she was accepting the bribe. She was later taken to Patna for further legal action.

In a recent case, sub-inspector Devkant Kumar, posted in Rajgir, was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 on April 27, 2026, in a vigilance trap.
