Though they can be called lucky as they were given proper guidance, a conducive atmosphere and a studious group to guide them, that too free of cost, by a wellmeaning coaching institute, they still deserve praise as they toiled to clear the IIT entrance exam.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">The idea to coach students with rural background was the brainchild of IG (CID) Abhayanand, who teaches physics to students preparing for IIT exams in a local coaching institute, Ramanujan School of Mathematics, which sponsored the teaching and other facilities to these 30 students.

In what can be called a stupendous achievement, 22 of the 30 students cleared the IIT exam, the results of which were declared on Thursday.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">This unique experiment was started in 2003 and even that year 18 students of the "super 30" group were successful in IIT entrance exam. "The 30 students are selected after rigorous screening and test and we mostly select students who come from low-income group," said Abhayanand.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">These "super 30" students could not speak in English and had attended government schools. "We never compromised on anything.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">Almost every day, the students were made to face tests which was the key to their success," he said, adding, "they were made to practice so much that they overcome fears of IIT entrance exam".</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">"For more than seven months we stayed in one place.We studied in groups and sacrificed everything that we liked to do.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">Even while eating our discussions were centred on our preparations," said Lokesh Verma, a student who hails from Bihta.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="">All the students were unanimous in their reply that the cocooned atmosphere in which they studied since November, 2003, along with studious companions, helped them a lot.</span><br /><br /></div> </div>
