Patna: Acting on a viral video showing a youth displaying a firearm, Patna police arrested four youths and seized two pistols, live cartridges, and three cellphones in the Gaurichak area on Thursday. The investigation revealed a financial trail of Rs10,000 linked to the purchase of the weapons and identified Abhishek as the main supplier, who remains absconding.
According to police, the case came to light after a video uploaded on Jan 6 to the Facebook account of Sunny Kumar, a Gaurichak resident, went viral. In the clip, a youth is seen holding a weapon, prompting immediate action.
City SP (East) Parichay Kumar stated that the person filming the video was Sahil Kumar, an acquaintance of Sunny. “During questioning, Sahil admitted the weapon belonged to Sunny and that he borrowed it to record the video. Acting on this, police raided Sunny’s residence and recovered a pistol and two live cartridges,” Kumar said.
Further interrogation led Sunny to reveal that another youth, Krishna, had additional weapons. A raid at Krishna’s house resulted in the seizure of a country-made pistol. Further questioning revealed the involvement of Sachin, who pointed to Abhishek as the supplier. Investigators also traced a money trail. Sunny transferred Rs10,000 to Krishna via PhonePe, and then Krishna forwarded the amount to Sachin, who kept Rs400 before passing the rest to Abhishek.
In total, police recovered two pistols, two live cartridges, and three cellphones. “Sunny Kumar, Sahil Kumar, Krishna, and Sachin have been arrested, while Abhishek remains at large. A manhunt is underway,” the SP added.
