Bihar police have sought the help of Maharashtra antiterrorism squad (

ATS

) in the investigation as Rashid lived at Pimpri in Pune for one decade before shifting to Sujawalpur recently, Munger SP Ashish Bharti said on Friday. He was arrested from his maternal uncle’s house.

A team of Maharashtra police would reach Munger soon for investigation. Intelligence Bureau and Bihar ATS sleuths interrogated Rashid and his uncle, but they could not reveal the purpose behind keeping the explosives. Sources said police conducted a raid on Shakil’s residence on a tip-off. “Eight detonators fixed with gelatin rods, along with 17 detonators and five gelatin rods were kept in an iron trunk inside the house,” said a police officer, adding that when police arrested the duo, a large number of villagers gathered there and protested.

“Rameez and Kamran got involved in a scuffle with the police personnel. A separate FIR has been lodged against them,” said the source. Sources said two cellphones had been also seized and police were trying to analyse the call detail records (

CDR

).

“Investigations are on to know from where the explosives had been brought and for what purposes,” Munger SP said.
