20 of 26 toppers are girls as BSEB declares Class XII results
Patna: Girls have once again outshone boys in the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Intermediate (Class XII) examinations, the results of which were announced on Monday. The overall pass percentage stood at 85.19 this year compared to 86.56 in 2025. The results were declared by education minister Sunil Kumar and BSEB chairman Anand Kishor.
Girl students secured top positions in the arts and commerce streams. Aditya Prakash Aman of Samastipur district topped the science stream by securing 481 marks (96.2%). Nishu Kumari of Gaya district topped the arts stream with 479 marks (95.8%), while Aditi Kumari of Patna emerged as the commerce topper with 480 marks (96%). Among the 26 toppers across all streams, 20 are girls.
The results of Class XII science, arts and commerce – all three streams – were released simultaneously. This year, approximately 13 lakh students appeared for the examination. The examination was conducted from Feb 1 to Feb 15, 2026.
The results were released within 35 days. With this, BSEB has become the first board in the country to release results for the eighth consecutive time, the minister claimed.
The minister said, “A total of six students have secured top five ranks in the science stream with Aditya Prakash Aman in first place (96.2%), Sakshi Kumari of Sitamarhi and Sapna Kumari of Nawada in second place (95.8%) and Anamika Kumari of Begusarai in third place (95.6%). A total of 13 students have secured the first five ranks in the arts stream, including Nishu Kumari of Gaya in first place, while three students, Siddhi Shikha (Sitamarhi), Chandradeep Kumar (Lakhisarai) and Md Lucky Ansari (Purnia), are in second place with 95.6% marks, and four students, including Nasrin Praveen (West Champaran), Sajiya Ansari (Nalanda), Nisu Kumari (Darbhanga) and Adarsh Kumar (Darbhanga), are in third place with 95.4% marks.”
The minister added that three girl students from Patna, including Aditi Kumari, Mahi Kumari and Nishika Shree, secured first, second and third ranks with 96%, 95.2% and 95%, respectively.
The top performers in the BSEB Intermediate examinations 2026 will be rewarded with cash prizes, laptops and scholarships.
BSEB chairman Anand Kishor said, “The top three rank holders in each stream – science, commerce and arts – will receive cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively. The fourth and fifth rank holders will receive Rs 30,000 each.”
In addition to the cash prizes, the top five students in each stream will also receive a laptop, a medal and a certificate of merit.
“Furthermore, they will be eligible for a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,500 throughout their undergraduate studies. The scholarship will be provided for 3-5 years, depending on the course pursued by the student,” Kishor added.
