Patna: Altogether eight persons were badly burned after coming in contact with a live wire during a Tazia procession taken out in Hajipur town area on the eve of Muharram, police said on Tuesday.
The incident happened at Baghdulhan locality under the Town police station area, when a large number of people was taking out a Tazia procession on trolley with loud speaker mounted on it.
Eye witnesses said that the speaker and tip of the Tazia, which was a mini replica of the tomb of Imam Hussain came in contact with an overhead live electric wire. As many as eight participants in the procession, who were dragging the trolley got scorched, the official said.
Sadar SDPO Raghav Dayal, who reached the spot said a spark was seen when the Tazia over the trolley touched the live wire. “The participants who were in contact with the Tazia got electric shock,” he said.
Among those injured are Nizamuddin (16), son of Nasir Ali, resident of Bagdulhan loaclity, Mohammad Aman (19), son of Ikram, Mohammad Pyare (30), son of Mohammad Manzoor, Mohammad Irshad (35), son of Lalbabu, Armaan (14), son of Mohammad Ashfaque, Mohd Naushad (28), son of Mohammad Salim and Mohammad Irshad (18), son of Mohammad Sajjad of Madai locality.
