10 Bihar natives crack UPSC, Muzaffarpur’s Raghav secures 4th rank

Patna: About 10 natives of Bihar have cracked the 2025 civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the results of which were announced on Friday. Among them is Akansha Singh, granddaughter of Ranvir Sena supremo Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, who secured the 301st rank in the examination.As per results based on written and personality tests, a total number of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment of which 180 have been selected for IAS, 55 for IFS, 150 for IPS, 507 for central services Group ‘A’ and 195 for Group ‘B’ services.So far as the results of candidates hailing from Bihar is concerned, at least two candidates have reportedly made it to the top 10. While Muzaffarpur-based Raghav Jhunjhunwala has secured 4th rank, Ujjwal Priyank from Patna has got 10th rank. Monika Srivastava from Aurangabad has secured the 16th rank.After finishing his school education from Saraiyaganj in Muzaffarpur, Raghav did his graduation from Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. He cleared the UPSC exam in his third attempt. Monika of Aurangabad had studied at IIT before taking the civil services exam.Interestingly, the granddaughter of Ranvir Sena supremo Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, Akansha Singh, also cracked the civil services examination. She has secured 301st rank. The Ranvir Sena was considered to be an upper-caste landlord militia, responsible for numerous violent massacres in the state.Ishitwa Anand of Pandarak in Patna district secured the 50th rank and the son of a grocery shopowner of Tajpur block in Samastipur district, Ayush Kumar was placed at the 143rd rank. Yet another youth from Mohiuddinnagar in Samastipur, Abhishek Kumar, who is son of Nalanda Open University’s registrar Avay Kumar Singh, secured 102nd rank. Ruchi Singh of Begusarai also cracked the civil services exam by securing 171th rank.All these talents hailing from Bihar were successful in cracking the UPSC exam by studying outside the state. Not a single student from Patna or any other university for the state could make it to the most prestigious competition, quipped a senior academic of Patna University.
