PATNA/MOTIHARI: The toll in Friday’s brick kiln explosion in
Bihar’s East Champaran has increased to seven, with the death of one more worker.
Three of the dead were from neighbouring UP and four locals, including kiln owner Mohammad Irshad, Bihar police said Saturday. Ten workers were injured in the tragedy in Narirgir village of Ramgarhwa area. “The condition of eight is stated to be serious,” a police official said.
PM Narendra Modi on Saturday announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund for the next of the kin of each deceased.
CM Nitish Kumar also announced a relief of Rs 4 lakh each.
