Man dies after being pushed out of auto in Ghaziabad, his friends arrested

Ghaziabad: Two men were arrested in Tronica City for allegedly murdering their friend. ACP Loni Siddharth Gautam said a complaint was filed on Jan 22 by a woman named Rubina. She said in her complaint that her husband, Mehtab, had gone out to meet his friends Neeraj Pal and Harshit Patel on Jan 18 and had been missing since then. She accused her husband's friends of being responsible for his disappearance. Police launched a search operation and learnt that Mehtab's body had been found in Delhi. They started looking for his friends. An FIR was registered against the two men under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238(5) (disappearance of evidence of an offence or giving false information to screen an offender) of BNS. With the help of surveillance and manual input, on Friday, both of them were arrested in the Tronica City area. Harshit is an auto driver and his electric vehicle was used in the abduction. Police seized the vehicle and the muffler used to strangle Mehtab. The men told police that they had killed Mehtab. On Jan 18, around 8.30pm, Neeraj had called Mahtab from Harshit's phone and asked him to come outside his house. After that, three of them got into Harshit's auto and headed towards Delhi. Harshit drove the auto while Neeraj and Mahtab sat in the back seat. Neeraj made sexual advances towards Mahtab. He did not consent and a physical fight broke out between the two. Neeraj pushed Mahtab out of the moving auto. His head hit the road and he lost consciousness. The men thought Mahtab had died, so they took a muffler and strangled him. They reached Signature Bridge in Delhi and tried to throw Mahtab's body into Yamuna. When they were unable to dump the body in the river they threw it on a road adjacent to the bridge and fled. tnn
