Man attacks neighbour with sword in Ghaziabad, severs part of his ear

Ghaziabad: A man’s ear was partially severed after he was allegedly attacked with a sword by a neighbour in Vijay Nagar earlier this week.Abhishek Pratap Singh, a resident of Vrindavan Enclave, alleged that Nitin, a resident of Gokul Dham Society, struck him from behind with a sword on April 16 evening while he was parking a motorcycle near the society. When Singh fell, Nitin struck again, the blow landing on the upper part of his neck and severing part of his ear.Singh claimed he managed to get up and run, but the accused continued to chase him, attempting to strike him further. The attack was captured on CCTV camera.According to police, Nitin had long harboured suspicions that Singh had illicit intentions toward his wife, a grievance that had previously led to disputes between the two. Officials said Nitin had caught Singh casting lewd glances at her earlier.A case was registered at Vijay Nagar police station under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons. The accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
