Gul Panag lauds UP CM for new Film City

NEW DELHI: Former Miss India and actor-activist Gul Panag on Tuesday showered praises on UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath for setting up a film city near Delhi-Agra Taj expressway.


"I am grateful to the UP CM to display the foresight. I am very much likely to participate in this project. Its a very welcome project. I will be happy to see whatever role I can have in such a project," Panag told TOI.

The 41-year-old actor, a daughter of an Army officer, said it was high time that more film cities were needed outside Mumbai, to keep up with the growing reach of web series and shows on over-the-top (OTT) media platforms.

The actress said that the upcoming film city studio would also help address the routine problems of location-hunts with a mobile crew and technical equipments.

"A lot of films and TV shots are being shot outside of Mumbai. It would be great to have two film bases" she said.

The actress said that she also believes that film shootings would generate employment in a state like UP that so often faces problems of migrants seeking jobs elsewhere.

"In times like Covid, everybody wants to be home. It would be just the right project which can help bring jobs to crew for films," said Panag.

Panag also said that the actors must learn to co-exist in society and speak their voices with democratic freedom.

"You see I joined farmers at Singhu Border on Tuesday as an agriculturist. We must pursue our dreams and express any reservations. My only point is that that the differences could have been sorted out if bills were tabled in consesus with farmer committees and assurances on MSP were given," she said.
