Four Renault Dusters stolen from Noida Sector 63 service centre
NOIDA: Six masked men barged into a Renault service centre in Sector 63, overpowered two security guards deployed there and made off with four SUVs in the small hours of Sunday.
The dacoity was captured in CCTV cameras installed at the service centre, but police are yet to arrest anyone in this regard.
Preliminary investigation revealed the six men entered the service centre through the gate number 1 around 2am and thrashed the two guards, Pankaj Tiwari and Rajiv Tiwari. The dacoits then locked the duo in a car and fled with three silver and one brown Renault Dusters through the rear gate. The guards were later admitted to Fortis Hospital in Sector 62.
The cars belonged to Sudhanshu Singh, a software engineer from Sector 134, Raj Sinha, an army officer form Sector 37, Benu Gupta, a DU professor who stays in Sector 126, and Shikha Mishra, a saloon owner from Sector 62.
The vehicles were apparently ready for delivery after servicing.
Police have recovered a three minute, 39-second-long CCTV footage, which shows a dacoit emerging out of the centre and then hiding behind a car in the backyard, apparently to check if anyone was there at the back gate. He then slowly walks towards the gate and throws it wide open as his associates drive out the four SUVs one after another. Finally, he closes the door and disappears.
The ignition keys of all the four SUVs were inside the respective vehicles, suggesting involvement of some former or current employees.
Circle officer-2 Rajeev Singh said prima facie it seemed that the dacoits were well aware of the service centre’s interior. “We have to see how the keys were left inside the Dusters,” he said. Further, the dacoits were not carrying any arms or stick even as there were bloodstains on the floor inside the centre.
“The guards complained of pain. Police have recorded their statements on Monday. The management of the centre may be included in the probe if required,” he said.
In the meantime, the car owners assembled at the service centre on Sunday morning and had heated arguments with the management. They alleged that it was sheer negligence on part of the service centre employees.“The police claim to have got some leads in the case. We suspect someone close to us was involved,” Sant Chaudhary, general manager of the service centre, told TOI.
